About Me

Why I Do What I Do…

The Diagnosis That Started It All

When I was in my late thirties, I was very active physically and enjoyed running, biking, and weightlifting. I was a single mom of four children, and I was also working as a nurse midwife in a hospital doing 24-hour shifts. My life was full, and I was happy keeping busy and active. Then, I turned forty years old and was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW), a serious heart arrhythmia requiring a procedure to attempt to correct the rhythm in my heart. I underwent a heart ablation, but the procedure failed. I was left with chronic chest pain.

A Troubling Mystery

None of the cardiologists I saw could figure out how to alleviate the pain. In the span of ten years, I was on fourteen different medications, just trying to figure out through trial and error what might work. None of them were effective in resolving my arrhythmia or relieving my pain. As any chronic pain sufferer can attest, it was so debilitating that it took everything I had just to survive each day. As far as I was concerned, my life as I once knew it was over.

Time for a Change

I was in and out of the hospital for the first three years after the procedure due to the severity of the pain. I feared I was going to have a heart attack. I was depressed and continually fought with feelings of anger, frustration, and helplessness, but I knew I had to carry on the best I could with four kids at home. I realized I had to make a shift. I decided I needed to change my career from hospital work, because the stressful and grueling shifts were too taxing. I began training in functional medicine with the American Academy of Anti-Aging. I started learning about nutritional medicine and how to treat the body as whole. My experience taught me how to find the underlying causes of disease and support the body so it can heal itself naturally.

Hope and Healing

I was exploring a supplement program for patients that actually guaranteed absorption, and this included investigating and testing multivitamins. My diet was very clean, and my antioxidants and nutrients tests were high, but I took the multivitamins anyway because I always test supplements personally before recommending them to patients. In this instance, the multivitamins included high-quality fish oil. Through the process of testing these multivitamins on myself, I ended up healing myself.

Freedom from Pain

My chest pain stopped. To my surprise, in just two weeks, my chest pain disappeared completely. I was elated! I was missing some key nutrients needed for my health, and once I obtained what I needed through these professional-grade supplements, my body was able to heal itself. My heart pain vanished, the spasms in the vessels ceased, and perfusion - the flow of blood through the circulatory system - increased. The new protocol I discovered helped the vessels in my heart relax. While I still have an arrhythmia, I no longer suffer from chest pain unless I stop supplementing with these particular multivitamins and nutrients. I have seen amazing healing in myself and my patients with these multivitamins.

Driven to Serve

Now, I am doing what I love and helping patients find solutions to their health issues. Everyone deserves answers. Everyone deserves to know how to get back to their optimal health. I know functional medicine works. This is my story and why I do what I do.

I look forward to serving you.
